I think it is so much fun to cook on an open campfire and make s'mores after eating a delicious dinner. Dutch Ovens are also a great way to cook on a campout. Or get more adventurous with a Vagabond Stove!
Campfires and Dutch Ovens
This one website probably has every single recipe you could possibly make on a campfire or in a dutch oven. The breakfast, lunch and dinner categories aren't very accurate, but I am 99% percent sure you will find something to fit your troop here.
Boyscout Trail Recipes
Here are some of our favorites from this website:
Breakfast in a Paper Bag
Omelets in a bag
Coffee Can Stew
Chicken and Cheese Quesadillas
Scouting Resources of the UK has 6 different PDF cookbooks, including one for "Geezers". Lots of great tips, recipes and resources. Check them out!

Buddy Burners and Vagabond Stoves
Another way to cook camping meals is to use a Buddy Burner and Vagabond Stove (see photo at right). Essentially the burner is made by filling a tuna can with cardboard strips and then pouring melted wax over them. The Vagabond Stove is made by cutting a door for the burner and air holes along the top of a large oversized coffee or vegetable can. You can see them made and used by a Girl Scout named Moira at her site here.

Campfire Irons (Hobo Pies)
One of my favorite things to make camping are Hobo Pies. You need a Hobo Pie maker (otherwise known as a campfire pie iron), a loaf of bread, and what ever else you want to put in between. You can literally put anything you want in your Hobo Pie because that is what they are. A piece of bread on each side with anything you want in between. My favorite combo is pizza sauce and cheese. My Troop Leader lovers marshmallows and chocolate chips with banana -- it's just like a banana s'mores! You can do anything! Here is a link where you can buy a Hobo Pie maker. As a gift, we got our troop leader campfire waffle irons!
And don't forget to make Gorp as a snack!
Thought to perhaps stand for "Good Old Raisins and Peanuts", this is a great trail mix that the girls get to make. Put out bowls of goldfish, pretzels, m&ms, nuts, raisins, craisins, mini marshmallows... anything goes!... and let girls scoop their own personal favorites into a bag or tupperware to pack for the trail.
